American Spaghetti & Meat Sauce
From the kitchen at Almira


 

(by American I mean not authentic Italian, but enjoyed in homes all over America for decades)

 Ingredients:
96oz Marinara sauce
Spaghetti
2 lbs Sweet Ground Italian Sausage
12 Sweet Italian Sausage links sliced
(you can also substitute meatballs here)
Fresh Garlic a few
Fresh Onion one large or two medium
Fresh Mushrooms a pound
Fresh Green pepper one large
Fresh Roasted red pepper, some
Fresh Parmesan Cheese

Instructions:

Chop and brown ground sausage in large pot,
in separate pan cook the sausage links in olive oil,
in your pot of ground sausage add, green pepper, onion, roasted red pepper, garlic, allow to cook 30-40 min.  
Add sauce, mushrooms, and finally, fully browned sliced sausage links, allow to simmer 1 or 2 hours.
Refrigerate overnight, reheat and serve over your choice of pasta.

Cook spaghetti to al dente before serving, top with fresh Parmesan and serve.



Note to self: Use only Johnsonville Sweet Italian Sausage.
Other sausage just doesn't taste right.
